3.63ct Cushion Cut Pink Morganite
Madagascar
GIA Report: 2205857721
Here we have another stunning Morganite. I will say it again, every gemstone is unique and has it’s own personality. This beauty is seeking a wearer who enjoys flattering, with understated elegance. This gorgeous gemstone will not be missed by anyone in the room or passing by. Pure, beautiful and elegant.
This Morganite is beautiful pink, crisp and clean. The pink is slightly deeper than a light pink Morganite. Still, in the princess fairy tale range. This Morganite flashes stunning hints of deep magenta, both indoor and outdoor. A truly exquisite gemstone.
Morganite is a variety of beryl. A gemstone called beryl doesn’t conjure visions of beautiful gemstones. It may surprise you to know the varieties of beryl: Emerald is a green variety of beryl, exceedingly rare when of gem quality. Aquamarine is another variety of beryl, with cool hues of greenish-blue to blue. Golden Beryl which is sometimes called Heliodor is a beautiful gemstone (some believe “Heliodor” is more yellow than gold). Goshenite is the purest form of beryl, near colorless or colorless. The next time you see an authentic, natural, earth mined, gem quality Emerald, you’ll know it’s a variety of beryl. Morganite is a variety of beryl which ranges in color from soft brownish salmon, salmon, salmon orange, light pink, pink to vibrant pink near a light raspberry.
History of naming Morganite: In 1910 rose beryl was again discovered, but this time in Madagascar. George F. Kunz, a gemologist, mineralogist, author and chief gemologist for Tiffany & Co., proposed naming rose colored beryl “Morganite,” during a meeting at the New York Academy of Sciences in December of 1910, in honor of J.P. Morgan, a financier, philanthropist and gem collector.
This beautiful cushion cut Morganite, would be stunning set in White Gold or Platinum as a solitaire. Ith would also be stunning set with a halo of Goshenite (colorless Beryl). The distinctive cushion cut shape of this Morganite, provides a wonderful design opportunity.
