1.41ct Oval “Scintillating” Untreated and Unheated Blue Spinel
For thousands of years, the Spinel was thought to be Sapphire or Ruby (Corundum), as it was many times found in the same mines and locations as Corundum. In the 20th Century, the science of gemology revealed that many of the gemstones found in famous jewelry were Spinel's, not Sapphire or Rubies (Corundum). Fine Spinel has dramatically risen in desirability, as a result of its rarity and beauty. As a result, synthetic Spinel is now being created in laboratories and sold on the market by reputable jewelers. Be wary of any Spinel you might find without a GIA Report or report from a reputable laboratory, as many offered by retailers are synthetic or have been chemically treated to produce desirable or rare colors like blue. Fine quality Spinel are rare. Fine red, pink and blues are rarest and most desirable. Blue Spinel receives its color from Cobalt. Here we have a 1.41ct, oval, clean and crisp, "scintillating" medium blue, natural, earth mined Spinel. Absolutely gorgeous! We thoughtfully choose all gemstones in our collections, and this wonderful beauty is stunning! GIA Laboratory has found this Spinel to be, natural, earth mined, unheated and untreated. A natural beauty, courtesy Mother Earth.
